Looking for a shuttle service for your next thru hike in the Great Smoky Mountains? American Hikes offers prompt, reliable transportation for hikers and backpackers hiking the Appalachian Trail (Great Smoky’s only) and thru hikes in the Smokys and the surrounding Nantahala National Forest.

Shuttle Options
1) We can follow you to the trailhead where you’ll leave your car (and your hike will end), then we’ll transport you to the trailhead where your hike will begin.
2) We can meet you at the trailhead where your hike ends at a specified time and take you back to your car (at the beginning of the trailhead).

Shuttle Rates
Our rates are based on roundtrip mileage, meaning that we calculate our rates base on the total miles we must drive to provide the shuttle service you require. Our rates fluctuate based on the current price of fuel, but shuttle price quotes are locked in for up to 30 days from the date your reserve your shuttle.
Wait Charges
Should your hike take longer than you expected, and we have to wait for you to arrive at the trailhead for more than 10 minutes from the agreed upon pick-up time, there will be an additional charge of $5 for every ten minutes we have to wait for you to arrive. We encourage you to contact us if your hike is progressing slower (or faster) than expected to eliminate late charges. However, there are areas in the Great Smokys where cellular phone service is limited and you may not have an opportunity to keep us updated.
